Obituary for Wilburn Herald
July 14, 2017, Wilburn B. Herald accepted his eagerly awaited homecoming invitation from God. Waiting to receive him, his wife of 61 1/2 years Odessa Faye, his parents Martha Ellen and Rev. Sigel S. Herald, his brother Tommy, his brother-in-law Reuben Turner, two nieces Wanda Faye Suerdick and Linda Lou Lemaster and nephew-in-law Ken Wilson. Also waiting were his father and mother-in-law Will M. and Fanny R. Herald, brothers-in-law Estill, Astor, and Aophir Herald. Sister-in-law Flora Pudas, nieces Patricia and Linda Herald, and nephew W. R. Amis, as well as a multitude of family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Imogene Herald, his sister Rachel Turner, brother-in-law Beecher (Glenna) Herald, nieces Martha Wilson, Joy Rutan and Becca Sweeney and nephews Sigel and Reuben Turner, Jr. and wife, Gloria, William B. Herald, Estill Wayne Herald, Anthony Herald, and James Herald; great niece, Jessica Robertson; great nephews, Brian Suerdick, and Jordan Turner; and many other loving relatives and friends. Wilburn was born in Breathitt Co., KY 99 years ago. He served in WWII and, upon returning home, completed his education and taught school more than thirty years. He was a life-long member of the United Baptist Church. Though called to war, he was a man of peace. Viewing will be at Cooper Funeral Home Saturday from 3PM-6PM, then from 1PM to 3PM Sunday at Watts Funeral Home, Jackson, KY with funeral at 3PM with Paul Hall, Albert Little, Pat Turner, and Jesse Turner officiating. He will be buried with family at the Buck Herald Cemetery in Breathitt County, KY.
