Obituary for Susie Jane Lucas
Susie Jane Lucas, age 89, of Jackson, Kentucky, beloved wife of the late JC Lucas, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at her residence.
Susie was born on February 21, 1929, a daughter of the late Robert and Nannie Johnson Shelton. She was a mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother, a member of War Creek Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons: Samuel Lucas, Daniel Lucas, and Manuel (Pam) Lucas all of Jackson, Kentucky; five daughters: Mary Lucas, Sylvia (Doug) Gross, Beulah Turner, Della Lucas, and Lila Watts all of Jackson, Kentucky; twenty grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law: Jean Shelton; brother-in-law: Lowell Cundiff Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, JC Lucas and parents, Robert and Nannie Shelton; Susie was also preceded in death by two sons, Wilford Lucas and Wilton Lucas; one granddaughter, Julie Lucas; son-in-law, David Watts; and two daughter-in-laws, Audrey Lucas and Beatrice Lucas.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson, Kentucky at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 19, 2018 with Pastor Gary Bellamy and Robert Cundiff officiating. Susie will be laid to rest in the Lucas Family Cemetery at War Creek, Kentucky with Doug Gross, JC Lucas, John D. Bryant, Samuel (Pete) Lucas, John E. Lucas, Cody Lucas, Dylan Lucas, Aaron White, and John Hines serving as pallbearers; and Daniel Lucas Jr., and grandson-in-laws, Lloyd Harmon, and Bobby Shelton serving as honorary pallbearers. Friends may visit the funeral home after 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 18, 2018.
