Obituary for Ollie James Salyers
Ollie James Salyers, age 97 of Jackson, KY passed away March 25, 2014. Ollie worked in underground mines and operated a vehicle garage for several years, a logger, as well as traded in livestock. Ollie was a member of the Little Cane Creek Baptist Church. Ollie is the son of the Late Lewis and Aggie Chat Salyers and husband of Mable Bowling Salyers of Jackson, KY. Ollie is survived by his wife Mable Bowling Salyers of Jackson, KY; Three daughters: Nellie Mae (Jerry) Link of Walton, KY; Agnes (Donald) McMillian of Walton, KY; and Beulah (Bill) Kinder of Burlington, KY. One son, Goley (Lena) Salyers of Jackson, KY; Fifteen Grandchildren, Twenty-seven Great Grandchildren, and Eighteen Great Great Grandchildren. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by three sisters: Annie Riley, Sarah Salyers, and Stella Mae Howard. Six brothers: Johnny Salyers, Woodrow Salyers, Tom Salyers, Jessie Salyers, Arthur Salyers, and Willard Salyers. Two children: J.W. Salyers and Lois Marie Herald. Two beloved son-in-laws: William (Bill) Turner and James Colburn Herald. Ollie is also preceded in death by one grandson, Allen Wade Herald. Visitation will be Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, March 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Watts Funeral Home Chapel.
