Nellie Shelton Cundiff, age 83, of War Creek, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Hospice of the Bluegrass in Hazard, Kentucky.
Nellie was born on December 23, 1933 to the late Robert and Nannie (Johnson) Shelton. She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, loving husband of 49 and a half years, Lowell Cundiff Jr. of War Creek, Kentucky; three daughters, Leila (Cecil) Gillum of Berea, Kentucky; Ina Marie (Ray) Lee of Live Oak, Florida; and Sandra (Gene) Abney of Nebraska; two sons, Lloyd Harmon of Indiana; and Larry (Linda) Atkins of Florida; one sister, whom she loved dearly, Susie Lucas of Jackson, Kentucky; special grandson, Charles “Peanut” Trent and daughter, Madison Trent of Winchester, Kentucky; special granddaughter, Rosa Kiser Flatt of Winchester, Kentucky; great grandson, Carter Jack McClees; great granddaughter, Annie Rose Flatt; and a host of other grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Robert and Nannie Shelton, Nellie was preceded in death by brothers, Stanley Shelton, Sam Shelton, Charlie Shelton, Pearl Shelton, and Nick Shelton; one sister, Elsie Noble; two sons, Randall Kidd, and Boyd Harmon; one daughter, Ruby Frazier, mother-in-law, Rosie Cundiff, and father-in-law, Lowell Cundiff.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson, Kentucky at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 with Emmitt Campbell and Ralph Cundiff officiating. Nellie will be laid to rest in the Cundiff Cemetery at War Creek, Kentucky. Friends may visit the funeral home after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Special singing will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.
