Obituary for Melvin King
Melvin King, age 89, of Winchester, Kentucky, formerly of Breathitt County, beloved husband of the late Louise Perkins King, passed away Monday, August 14, 2016 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Melvin was born on June 4, 1928 to the late George “Toby” and Martha (Banks) King. He worked as a Pepsi Cola distributor for 18 years and was also an RC Cola employee for 16 and a half years and a retired farmer.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, two daughters, Teresa King of Winchester, Kentucky; and Addie Noble of Jackson, Kentucky; three sons, Wayne (Rhonda) King of Winchester, Kentucky; Curtis King of Winchester, Kentucky; and Melvin Jr. (Florence) King of Clay City, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Mike King, Jaime Downs, Erica King, Amy Turner, Mikhy Brock, and Ryan King; four great grandchildren, Michael Paul King, Kylie Shewman, Delaney Downs, and Kambria Downs; two sisters, Fannie Prevette of North Carolina; and Mildred (Orban) Henson of Jackson, Kentucky; one brother, John King of Florida; a host of nieces, and nephews; and many other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Louise Perkins King; and parents, George and Martha King, Melvin was preceded in death by daughter, Deloris King; grandson, Paul Noble; two brothers, Mort King, and Jr. King.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson, Kentucky at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017 with Rev. Joe Price officiating. Melvin will be laid to rest in the King Cemetery at Strong Fork, Frozen, Kentucky with Doug Hollon, John Bush, Kyle Ware, Gary Taulbee, Brett Sims, and L.D. Manns serving as pallbearers. Friends may visit the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017.
