Matha (Bush) White, age 101, of Hazard, Kentucky passed away peacefully at her residence Friday, March 20, 2026. Martha lived a long and meaningful life centered on faith, family, and kindness to others. Her gentle spirit and quiet strength were a blessing to all who knew her.
Matha was born August 06, 1924 to the late John and Larania Henson Bush. Matha was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and deep family devotion. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Gran White; son, Danny Dale White; daughters, Ranie White, Betty Henson, Anita Johnson, Frances Henson, Deborah White, and Rhonda White; sisters, Lizzie Mullins and Clara Bush; brothers, Tom Bush, Mart Bush, Charlie Bush, and Willie Bush; son-in-laws, Will Henson and Vernis White.
She is survived by two daughters, Rita White and Teresa White; two sons, Donnie (Doris) White and Phillip (Wanda) White; son-in-law, Willie Henson; daughter-in-law; Dora White, along with many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-granchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Matha was a member of the Pentecostal House Of Prayer
Matha will be remembered for her warm heart, her quiet wisdom, and the love she shared so freely with her family. She found joy in the simple moments of life and took pride in the family she helped nurture across generations. Her presence was a steady comfort, and her memory will continue to guide those who loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Watts Funeral Home in Jackson, Kentucky with Willie Henson and Ryan White officiating. Burial will follow at White - Henson Cemetery in White Valley Lane of Hazard, Kentucky with Raymond White, Jerry White, Chris White, Michael White, Ryan White, and John White serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 23, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
