Helen Short Terry, age 82 of Booneville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, Kentucky.
Helen was born on August 23, 1936 to the late Matt and Dora Vires Short. She was a homemaker and attended Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by five daughters: Mildred Lovelace of Booneville, Kentucky; Dora Combs of Jackson, Kentucky; Lucy Stepp of Booneville, Kentucky; Cora (John) Rohrig of Alexandria, Kentucky; and Susie Terry of Hazard, Kentucky; three sons: Bobby Terry, Michael Terry, and Ollie (Sherry) Mullins all of Booneville, Kentucky; two sisters: Amanda (PJ) Johnson of Richmond, Kentucky and Susie (Robert) Smith of Canoe; three brothers: Bobby (Ina) Short of Northern, Kentucky; Richard (Frances) Short of Newport, Kentucky; and Ance (Fannie) Short of Canoe; special nieces: Eunice Turner and Lucy Spicer; special nephew: Tim Johnson; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Matt and Dora Short, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Terry; a daughter, Drexia Terry; a son, Sonny Terry; son-in-law - who she loved as a son, James Ervine Lovelace; a sister, Delcie Short Smith; and brothers: J.B. Ollie, Dean, and John Short.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson, Kentucky at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2019 with Pastor Brook Parker officiating. Helen will be laid to rest in the Terry Cemetery at Jetts Creek. Friends may visit the funeral home at 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2019.
