Obituary for Dean Spencer
Dean Spencer, age 73, of Jackson, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care in Hazard, Kentucky.
Dean was born March 25, 1944 to the late Reed and Mary Patrick Spencer. He was a graduate of Jackson City School, Lee's College, and Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and was a former partner of Watts-Spencer Funeral Home for 25 years. Dean was a member of Wolverine United Methodist Church, a member of Breathitt County Sugar Camp Golf and Breathitt County Fish and Wildlife Game Club. He served as Breathitt County Coroner for 16 years and Breathitt County Sheriff for 8 years and was past President of Jackson Lions Club and of Breathitt County Democratic Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gloria Faye Hudson Spencer of Jackson, Kentucky; one daughter, Deana (Anthony) Tincher of Cynthiana, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Robyn Danae Stamper of Lexington, Kentucky; two sisters, Rita (Doug) Morgan and Shirley (Gary) Howard both of Jackson, Kentucky; two brothers, Donnie (Betty) Spencer of Paris, Kentucky and Darrel Spencer of Jackson, Kentucky; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Reed and Mary Spencer; Dean was preceded in death by three sisters, Linda Gail Godsey, Ada Robinson, and Louise Hounshell and three brothers, Eddie Spencer, Willard Spencer, and Russell Spencer.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson, Kentucky at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Dean will be laid to rest in the Jackson Cemetery in Jackson, Kentucky with Sugar Camp Golfing Buddies serving as pallbearers. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 16, 2018.
