Obituary for Charlie Spencer Sr.
Charlie Spencer Sr., age 78, of Jackson, KY passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Hazard ARH in Hazard, KY. Charlie was born March 8, 1937, a son of the Late James Price and Marilynn Gross Spencer and stepmother, Mary Golden Gross Spencer. He was a coal miner and a member of Little Cane Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Tharp Spencer of Jackson, KY; three sons, Charles (Jean) Spencer of Georgia; Michael Spencer of Texas; William Allen of Jackson, KY; three daughters, Linda (Sammy) Elkins of Hazard, KY; Brenda (Jim) Harrison of Georgetown, KY; Roxanna (David) Hall of Jackson, KY; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; three sisters, Cora Mae Hucker of Ohio; Shirley (Marvin) Stewart of Ohio; Roxie (Charlie) Hollon of Jackson, KY; one special sister-in-law, Louise Howard; one brother, Johnny (Katherine) Spencer; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and church family. Charlie was preceded in death by his loving parents, his loving stepmother, brothers, James Price Spencer, Otis Eugene Spencer; sisters, Josephine Herald, Rosa Lee Bunting, Mable Bartlett, and Opal Spencer. Burial will follow the service with pallbearers being, Brandon Howard, Chris Howard, John Elkins, Vincent Hall, Scott Caldwell, and Joey Hollan.
